Cookie Policy

Last updated: 28 September 2026

This policy lists every cookie and every item of browser storage used on mapssy.com, who sets it, why, and for how long. Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. Local storage is a similar store in your browser that is not sent with every request.

The short version

  • Mapssy itself sets no cookies. It uses your browser’s local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your settings. None of it is used for tracking.
  • Cloudflare, which protects the site, may set short-lived security cookies.
  • Google sets advertising cookies. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, it does so only if you consent in Google’s consent message.

Set by Mapssy (no consent needed)

These items stay in your browser on your device. They are needed for the features you use, so they do not need your consent under § 109(8) of the Slovak Electronic Communications Act (Act No. 452/2021 Coll.).

All traffic to mapssy.com passes through Cloudflare. Cloudflare sets its security cookies only when its protection checks a visit, so you may never get them. See the Cloudflare cookie list and the Turnstile privacy addendum.

Advertising (Google AdSense, consent needed in the EEA, UK and Switzerland)

We show Google AdSense ads on our content pages. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Google’s consent message asks for your choice before advertising cookies are used. It is a Google-certified consent management platform that follows the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework. If you do not consent, Google may still show ads that are not personalised and use limited or no data about you. The AdSense code loads only on the home page, About, How it works and the guides, so these cookies can be set or read there, not only where ads are shown. Other pages don’t load it when you open them directly; if you reach them from a page that already loaded it, it stays loaded in that tab, and pressing Cookie settings loads it too.

The names below are examples taken from Google’s cookie policy. Google decides which cookies it uses and may change them. Google explains how it uses data from sites that show its ads in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services. Google may also use similar technologies, such as local storage, for the same purposes.

Payments (Stripe)

When you buy or manage Mapssy Pro, you go to Stripe’s own pages. Stripe’s cookies are set there, not on mapssy.com. See the Stripe cookie settings and Stripe privacy policy.

Fonts and the route map

Your browser loads our typefaces from Google Fonts, which sends your IP address to Google (see the Privacy Policy). The map on the results page comes from our own server, so loading it contacts no one else. Mapssy does not ask either to set any cookies.

Changing your choices

  • Advertising consent: use Cookie settings at the bottom of every page to open Google’s consent message again and change or withdraw your choice. Withdrawing is as easy as giving consent.
  • Personalised ads: turn them off in Google’s Ads Settings, and for other vendors at www.aboutads.info/choices or www.youronlinechoices.eu.
  • Your browser: you can delete cookies and site data and block third-party cookies in your browser’s settings. Clearing Mapssy’s site data signs you out, resets your settings and deletes your Pro search history on that device.
